Cornell’s Journey
Born in Sacramento California as child number 5 of 11 children, Cornell Archie came into this world with God's hand on his life to spread the word of God through singing and teaching. Growing up in church, he had an affinity for music from singing in children’s choirs to later participating in the formation of his family music group alongside his siblings. He had the skill to sing and play the drums behind his late father, The Apostle James Archie, who became one of his inspirations along with The late Rance Allen as a singer.
Along with his music prowess, he was also a multi-sport athlete. Track and Field was his penultimate sport of choice where he excelled as a premier sprinter/jumper in the State of California winning the 1982 California Interscholastic Federation Triple Jump. He subsequently went on to attend the California State University, Fresno (FSU) on athletic scholarship.
Many years after graduating from FSU, he returned to serve the community by serving on the African American Alumni Club as Treasurer. The goal of the Club was to encourage Black High School graduates to attend FSU as part of their continuing educational pursuits. This was quite an important endeavor for him considering the plight of Black student attendance and major universities.
Later on in life Cornell developed his own soulful, urban, non-traditional style of singing and began to lead Praise and Worship at his home church, Moments of Blessings Church of Fresno, where he is an active Praise and Worship Leader, Associate Minister and Elder, teaching and preaching the gospel. Over the years Cornell developed a strong passion to sing and on occasion would try to create and write songs with his brother.
Now at 60 years old and a recent retiree from the County of Fresno where worked in the Department of Social Services, Information Technology for over 30 years, he has decided to step out on faith, with God leading the way turning this dream of his into a reality and begin his new journey as a full time independent artist releasing his first official debut single "My Next Is Now". With the support of his wife of 35 years, his children, and grandchildren, he embarks on this new journey, compelled to embrace it and spread the word of God with a message of hope, peace, joy, and love to the world.
Cornell counts it as an honor and privilege to assist and serve the Kingdom of God by serving others.
